Glossary | H | Header Bidding
What is header bidding?
Header bidding (also known as advanced bidding or pre-bidding) is a programmatic method of selling advertising space where developers auction inventory to multiple ad exchanges and the ad exchanges bid for the highest price in real-time.
Header bidding allows developers to increase their yield and revenue. Header bidding relates to websites, while in-app bidding is the programmatic selling and buying of ads via a real-time auction within mobile applications.
Marketers can use impression data first to optimize future campaigns. Header bidding also gives more marketers access to premium inventory that otherwise may have been limited to fewer marketers if sold traditionally.
Start.io’s publishers can integrate into our platform directly through an SDK or via 3rd party header bidding platforms. To easily onboard into the Start.io monetization platform, a publisher can activate header bidding through Amazon’s Transparent Ad Marketplace for mobile apps or Google Open Bidding.
